quill shaft

quill shaft
i. A long, thin, hardened steel shaft with splines on each end that connects the engine to the generator.
ii. A form of torsional vibration damper used between the engine crankshaft and the propeller reduction gear.
iii. A slim driveshaft or driven shaft projected as a cantilever and terminating in a splined coupling inserted into the mating female portion. It is used to connect the fuel pump to the engine.
